SakuLee fanfiction -Naruto-

Rock Lee sat at the falls watching the roaring water gush down into a river below it. Sighing, he stood up and leaned against the mighty oak tree seeking refuge in the shade of its limbs.
"I just don't understand.." Putting a hand over his eyes, he replayed the scene in his mind once again.

"Sasuke-kun! Sasuke-kun! Wait up!" Sakura smiled widely as she ran after the scowling boy in front of her; her short pink hair flowing out behind her as she tried to catch up.  
Finally as the boy slowed down the young girl bent down to catch her breath. The object of her attention turned to her, her smile widened. "Thanks Sasuke-kun, I was just hoping I'd finally catch up to you! I was wondering if maybe-" The boy's ice cold stare made her stop in mid-sentence.

"Sakura, WHY do you follow me around everywhere? Can't you see that I'm NOT interested in you? Stop making a fool of yourself and just get lost!"  With that hurtful sentence he turned on his heel and walked off, leaving the red and teal clad girl behind with tears in her eyes.

Rock Lee's hand smashed against the tree, causing a large piece of bark to spin off and land in the small river.
"Why can't she see it? She deserves so much better than him!! If she would just look around, she'd see that there were so many more people in the world who loved and cared about her! Who actually valued her feelings, unlike that Uchiha Sasuke.."  His hands clenched into fists as he slid back into a sitting position on the soft grass and tears threatened to escape his closed eyes.

Ashamed at himself for letting his feelings get the better of him, he took in a deep breath and walked over to the stream bank, sitting down he splashed cold water on his face.
Feeling calmer, he frowned and looked down at his reflection; it frowned back at him.
"Who actually valued her feelings.. some one like yourself?" It seemed to say to him.
Rock bit his lip and blushed a little, imagining spending time with Sakura and having her love him as much as she loved Sasuke.
"I admit, it would be wonderful, if Sakura..Felt a certain way about me."  He stared at his reflection and watched it ripple away as he pushes some pebbles in the water. "But no matter how hard I try.. She seems to slip away.."

A voice behind him made him turn quickly, putting a fake smile on his face and trying to look confident he looked up.
"Hi Lee-san!" Sakura smiled and waved as she walked over to him, he looked to the ground and bowed nervously, had his wish about her come true?

When Sakura sat down beside him he could barely look at her without blushing, but he tried to retain his cool, suave demeanor to impress her.
"Uh, H-hi Sakura-chan! I was just thinking about you!!"  Smooth, Lee, smooth. He groaned inwardly and tried to figure out if it was possible for him to sound any more stupid.

"Really?" When she smiled at him and sat beside him, he felt like he would melt away in happiness.
"I was thinking too," She began, but when she looked at the water her smile faded away. "About me and Sasuke.."

"What's the matter Sakura-chan?" Lee's heart dipped and his smile turned into a genuine frown of worry, he took her hand in his and looked into her eyes. "I'll do anything to help you smile again."

"I.. I was wondering," He nodded encouraging for her to continue. "Could you talk to him for me?"

His heart, which had moments ago been in heaven, seemed to plummet down thousands of stories and smash back down to earth.

"Oh.." He held his smile on his face, and tried not to look disappointed. "Of course I can Sakura!"

Her frown turned into a small smile and she gave him a quick hug as she stood up and turned to go.

"I knew I could count on you Lee-san! You're so smart and rational! You'll make him understand that we're meant to be!"  She waved and ran off back to the forest area where the rest of the ninja were gathered having their annual 'chakra day' picnic.

Lee stood up, and cursed himself, how could he have said that to her? How could he have promised to tell Sasuke about how Sakura felt about him? It was obvious- when Sakura was concerned, Lee would do anything to make her happy, even if it meant he was out of the picture.
Steeling himself for the task ahead of him, Lee made his way out to the main picnic area to confront Sasuke.

"Why is dog brow going over to Sasuke?" Naruto raised a brow as he watched Lee tread his determined path towards Sasuke.

"How am I supposed to know?"  Shikamaru sighed, as he looked over his half eaten bowl of coleslaw. "This whole picnic this is SO troublesome.."

Naruto raised his hand as if he was about to make a well thought out and appropriate answer, and Shikamaru leaned in.

"Are you going to finish that?"

Shikamaru slumped on the picnic table and pushed the coleslaw over to Naruto, he had given up all hope of getting any intelligent conversation going.


“Sasuke, I need to talk to you about Sakura..” Lee walked over to the blue and black clad boy, who pushed his long spiky bangs out of his eyes and glared at him.
“I don’t need this right now Lee.” He muttered, and stood up to walk away, but was stopped by Lee’s strong grip.

“This is really important.”

“I TOLD you, I don’t NEED this!” Sasuke tried to get away, but was eventually thwarted enough to sit down beside Lee.

“Look.. She really likes you,” Lee admitted with an after thought of ‘though I don’t know why’ to himself. “And I-“

Sasuke stood up.

“Look Lee, I KNOW she likes me. She follows me around everywhere like some parasite! I don’t have time for girls and there’s a lot of things on my mind.” He turned to Lee and stared, frowning at him. “Besides, if you like her so much, why don’t YOU take her?”

“Sakura’s not just some possession. I can’t just ‘take’ her.” Lee’s eyes once warm and hopeful changed to cold and angered.

Sasuke sighed, frustrated with the conversation. “Look, do what you like, okay? Just get her off my ba-”  He was stopped in mid-sentence by a flaming hard punch to the face.

“I can’t. Because for some reason, she spends her wonderful time and love on a jerk like you.” Lee stood hand still extended in a fist from the blow he had dealt out, with fury in his eyes.

As Sasuke stood there, blood dripping from his cut lip, he watched Lee turn and walk away with a look of shock on his face.

Behind the giant oak tree Sakura looked from Rock Lee, who was massaging his left hand to Sasuke who was standing with blood from his cut lip on his hands.
Indecision fluttered in her heart.. Finally, she ran to the one boy who she had been running eventually to all along.

“Lee-san!! Is your hand okay? I’m so sorry!”

Rock Lee smiled, blushing slightly as Sakura worried over his hand.

“It’s nothing Sakura, don’t worry about it, I-“ He stopped in mid-sentence as Sakura hugged him tightly.

“Thank you Lee-san..”

His heart was back on cloud nine.


Sasuke watched Lee and Sakura hug, totally bewildered.

“But..She..” He stood up, about to run over to her, but slipped on some coleslaw and landed flat on his face.

“Oops, sorry Uchiha.” Shikamaru smiled, none too apologetically and shrugging. “Isn’t this picnic troublesome?”

“Smooth move, Sasuke.” Naruto grinned at Sasuke and stuck his tongue out at him.

Sasuke glared at Naruto and Shikamaru, blushing furiously and muttering curses as he stood up.

“ Just shut up..” He said, and walked off, totally un-aware that he had coleslaw all down his back.
Naruto and Shikamaru grinned and high-fived each other. They had finally found something in common.
